Shaping the
Future of our Chapter!
2008
Chapter Goals
During 2007, the Cyclone Chapter of SHRM worked very
hard to strengthen the foundation for our local chapter. Our executive committee set
the following goals for 2008:
2008 Cyclone Chapter of SHRM Goals &
Objectives
Membership Development
- Contact local chamber offices in
Nevada for business listings. Create invitation to membership. Efforts result
in 5% membership increase.
- Encourage SHRM's At-Large
members to become local chapter members through personal contact and follow-up.
- Increase networking
opportunities through structured activities on a quarterly basis.
Community Outreach
- Partner with local community
college to publicize a new HR Certification program to be offered late 2008. Offer involvement opportunities to chapter members.
- Research philanthropic
scholarship opportunities as a way to promote Human Resources in the community and make
recommendations for 2009.
- Prepare a generic business card
and stationary for the chapter for distribution by chapter members and officers. This will enhance public awareness of the
chapters existence and meetings.
College Relations
- Increase student attendance at
monthly meetings.
- Assist ISU in establishing an
internship program for local student members.
- Co-sponsor a student chapter
event on campus once each semester.
Professional Development
- Advance the profession by
providing educational support to those seeking HR certification.
- Upon certification, the chapter
will provide a one-year free local membership.
- Provide links to HR educational,
legislative, and informational resources through Chapter website.
- Provide limited funds for
President or President Elect to attend SHRM National Leadership Conference.
Chapter Development
- Increase yearly SHRM Foundation
donation by 10% over previous year.
Seeing these goals become reality will take effort from all of
us. If you have an interest in helping us acheive our goals, please contact a member
of the Executive Committee.
Thanks to all for what we accomplished in 2007 to build this chapter; we look forward
to another exciting year in 2008!
